Borsetshire Issues and Options

PIcture fo typical Ciftonville Scene

This is the first formal consultation in the planning policy process for the Cliftonville Development Plan Document (DPD).

We have previously carried out consultations about the Cliftonville West area to identify the issues and concerns that people think need to be addressed.  We considered these issues, and have set out those that we think planning policies may be able to help with, along with the different options as to how this might be achieved.  We then set out our preferred options which we think we can develop to form realistic, reasonable and implementable planning policies for the Cliftonville West area.

Alongside this document, the council is required to publish a Sustainability Appraisal report.  This has been instrumental in preparing the options for Cliftonville and your comments are also welcome on this. Both documents can be found following the 'Consultation Documents' link on the right hand side of this page.

We would like to know what you think about the issues we have identified, our preferred options and the reasons we chose them.

On-line document - This version of the document can be read on-line, and you can answer our question at appropriate places within the document.

  • Sustainability Appraisal Report
The purpose of a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) is to ensure sustainability is fully considered in the preparation and implementation of plans in order to promote sustainable development. In accordance with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, it is now a mandatory requirement to undertake an SA, incorporating the provisions of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Directive1, for all Development Plan Documents (DPDs). This SA has been prepared for the Cliftonville DPD and is also available for public consultation. Please use the comments form for the Cliftonville Preferred Options Report if you would like to make any comments on the SA.
